    your questions answered

    • Do I have to be home for my pool opening?

Nope! You do not need to be home for your scheduled pool opening. All we ask is that you ensure we have full access to your pool and backyard so our technicians can safely and efficiently perform the service. That includes unlocking gates and removing any obstructions in the work area. We’ve done thousands of openings for customers who aren’t home, and everything runs smoothly as long as we can get in. If there are any special instructions, you can leave us a note when you book. Sit back and let us get your pool summer-ready!

    • How do you open a pool?

We’ve put together a full pool opening video to walk you through our entire process, from removing the cover to priming your pump and balancing your water, Crush Pools offers full opening services so you don’t have to lift a finger.

Visit the FAQ or service page to learn more about booking.

    • How long does it take to open my pool?

On average its 2 hours. However this ranges from pool to pool depending on size, cover and condition of the pool.

    • How many visits is a full pool opening?

For tarp and water bag cover or a lock in cover. We come 2 times for a full pool opening. The first time 90% of the work is done but the water will be too low for us to start the pool system. We ask you to fill up the pool to the skimmer line, call us and then we will come back to start the system.

    • I have an attached spa – how much more does it cost to open?

We charge an additional $195 for the attached spas. The reason being the system tends to be more complicated and so we have to take more time to ensure it is set up properly.

    • I want to be home for my pool opening, will you call me on your way?

Of course! Just let our admin staff know when you book the appointment and they will add a note to your file.

    • I’ve already removed the pool cover myself, can you come and start the system?

Of course! Just make sure your water level is halfway up the skimmer line before we arrive.

    • What time will you come to open my pool?

Unfortunately it’s really hard for us to give an exact time of when we will be at your house. This is because we never know how long a pool will take to open until we get there! What we can do is send you an email the day before letting you know where you are on our list for the day and roughly what time we will be there at.

    • What’s included in a full pool opening and safety cover opening?

We like to assure our customers that our pool openings include pretty much everything to get you set up for the summer! The full list of what is included can be found on our swimming pool opening page.

    • When should I open my pool?

We have a full blog post outlining when you should open your pool. For the short and sweet answer usually one week in advance of when you plan to use it is best! If you have a safety cover – open it as soon as possible. Leaving your pool closed for too long will cause the water to go green and may take weeks to get clear again.

    • When should I test my water after the pool is opened?

We recommend our customers let the water circulate for a few days after opening the pool before taking their water into a pool store to be tested. You can bring your water sample into our store we offer FREE pool water testing. We are located at 380 Dundas Street E Oakville.

    • While you’re opening my pool, will you show me how my pool system works?

Our crew members usually work very late into the evening to make sure everyones pool is opened on time so unfortunately they can not spend extra time to explain the system to you. However, we do offer a Pool School where one of our lead techs will come out to your house for an hour and answer any questions you have about your pool!

    • Can I pay on-site for closings and openings?

Sure! We allow on-site payment for closings and openings, which many customers find convenient. That said, we still ask for a valid credit card number when you book the service to secure your appointment. Life happens, plans change, emergencies come up, or maybe you get last-minute concert tickets, and we need a way to keep your booking organized in case you’re no longer available. Your card won’t be charged unless the appointment is missed or canceled late. We aim to keep the process flexible for you while also protecting our team’s time and schedule. If you have questions, just reach out.

    What do our customers think?

    • I’m a new owner of a pool and don’t have much knowledge of it. But thanks to Greg, I had a trouble free summer. He helps to clean the pool, test the water, add chemical when necessary and always answer my many questions in detail patiently. A detail pool report is sent out after each of his visit and when I was away for vacation, a picture of my pool was always attached to the report. In addition, he charges reasonable by comparing to other service providers. Thanks a lot for your help, Greg.

    • We’ve used Crush Pools for our pool opening and closing for the past 3 years and they have been amazing. We’ve used a couple of other companies but Crush Pools crushed the competition. They always respond quickly to questions I have about our pool and they always do a great job. I highly recommend them.
