Pool Opening Questions

How do you open a pool?

Great question! We could explain it in words but we made an awesome video instead. Check it out on our Youtube page.

When should you open a pool?

Even better question! We have a full blog post outlining when you should open your pool. For the short and sweet answer usually one week in advance of when you plan to use it is best! If you have a safety cover – open it as soon as possible. Leaving your pool closed for too long will cause the water to go green and may take weeks to get clear again.

What is included in a Full Pool Opening and Safety Cover Opening?

We like to assure our customers that our pool openings include pretty much everything to get you set up for the summer! The full list of what is included can be found in the chart above on our pool opening page.

I have an attached spa – how much extra does it cost to open?

We charge an additional $75 for attached spas. The reason being the system tends to be more complicated and so we have to take more time to ensure it is set up properly.

I have solar panels – how much extra does it cost to open?

We charge an additional $50 for solar panels. Same reason as the attached spa – the system tends to be more complicated with solar panels and so we have to take more time to ensure it is set up properly.

I’ve already removed the pool cover myself – can you come to start the system?

Of course! Just make sure your water level is halfway up the skimmer line before we arrive. We charge $144+hst to start the system.

Can you vacuum my pool after opening it?

Of course! We charge $123+hst for a service vacuum after the pool is opened. Talk with our office admin team after the pool is opened and they will book you in!

Will my pool be sparkling and clean after the first service vacuum?

We really wish we could say yes to this but unfortunately it all depends on the pool and how dirty it is (i.e lots of debris, green, leaves). Some pools can take multiple visits to get clean and operational – this is why we always recommend opening early!

Will you vacuum my pool if it’s green?

We can’t vacuum the pool until we can see the bottom. We can come out and do a service call ($123+hst). During the service call we will shock the pool with chlorine and scoop as much debris as we can but until we can see the bottom we are unable to vacuum. Think of it like bobbing for  apples – really hard to do if you can’t see whats in the bucket!

When should I test my water after the pool is opened?

We recommend our customers let the water circulate for a few days after opening the pool before taking their water into a pool store to be tested.

I really don’t want to wait in line at the pool store to get my water tested – can Crush do it for me?

Absolutely! You can sign up for our weekly maintenance service and avoid entering a pool store all summer!

P.S – we only take a limited amount of customers and spots fill up quickly!

What time will you come to open my pool?

Unfortunately it’s really hard for us to give an exact time of when we will be at your house. This is because we never know how long a pool will take to open until we get there! What we can do is send you an email the day before letting you know where you are on our list for the day and roughly what time we will be there at.

Do I have to be home for the pool opening?

Nope! Just make sure we have access to the backyard.

Okay I think I still want to be home though.. can you call me before you come?

Of course! Just let our admin staff know when you book the appointment and they will add a note to your file.

Since I am going to be home – can you explain to me how to use my system and take care of my pool?

Our crew members are usually working till very late in the evening making sure everyones pool is opened in time so unfortunately they can’t stay extra time to explain the system to you. However, we do offer a Pool School where one of our lead techs will come out to your house for an hour and answer any questions you have about your pool!

What is the average time it takes to open a pool?

On average its 2 hours. However this ranges from pool to pool depending on size, cover and condition of the pool.

How many visits is a Full Pool Opening?

We come 2 times for a full pool opening. The first time 90% of the work is done then we ask you to fill up the pool to the skimmer line, call us and then we will come back to start the system.

I have a safety cover is it also 2 visits?

Nope! Safety covers can be started day of and only need 1 visit. This is one of the reasons we recommend you install one as it saves you time and money when it comes to opening your pool.

P.S we are pretty good at installing them to if your interested.

Ok now I want a safety cover, can I get a quote?

Of course! Give us a call and we will provide you with a customized quote free of charge.

You did such an awesome job! Where can I leave a review?

Thank you! We take pride in our work and hope you are happy and satisfied with the service you received. You can leave a review on our Google reviews page here.
